Fifth Sunday of Easter

Each Sunday, you will find opportunities to worship individually, with your family, or with small groups. Although we are physically separated from one another, we are united in prayer and praise.

Gathering

Welcome

In Jesus’ name, welcome!

First-time participant or one who’s been here many days; child or elder or somewhere in-between; stewards, caretakers, disciples of Jesus, children of God— neighbours all, loved and loving. Welcome. Welcome in Christ’s name!

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Love of God, and the power and presence of the Holy Spirit, be with you all.

Introit “Psalm 31 – Marty Haugen”

Opening Prayer

In unison
There are some things I can only share with you,
O God, decisions I have made that I regret,
bringing brokenness into my living.
I offer my brokenness to you,
risen Christ, as confession.
I open myself to you, cleansing Spirit,
asking for renewal and for wisdom.
Hear the prayers of my deepest self in my silent prayer.
(a time of silent prayer)

Words of Assurance

Thank you, loving God, forgiving Christ, transformative Spirit,
for you have put a new heart within me.
You didn’t turn away
but embraced my deepest self,
loving who I am and restoring your image within me,
promising to never abandon me
but to always sustain me.
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you!

Hymn “Now the Green Blade Rises”

Now the green blade rises from the buried grain,
Wheat that in the dark earth many years has lain;
Love lives again, that with the dead has been:
Love is come again, like wheat that springs up green.

In the grave they laid Him, Love whom we had slain,
Thinking that He’d never wake to life again,
Laid in the earth like grain that sleeps unseen:
Love is come again, like wheat that springs up green.

Up He sprang at Easter, like the risen grain,
He that for three days in the grave had lain;
Up from the dead my risen Lord is seen:
Love is come again, like wheat that springs up green.

When our hearts are saddened, grieving or in pain,
By Your touch You call us back to life again;
Fields of our hearts that dead and bare have been:
Love is come again, like wheat that springs up green.

Sermon

Responsive Hymn “Three things I promise”

Prayers of the People

Prayer for the Pandemic

Affirmation of Faith (Robert Fulghum)

I believe that imagination is stronger than knowledge.
That myth is more potent than history.
That dreams are more powerful than facts.
That hope always triumphs over experience.
That laughter is the only cure for grief.
And I believe that love is stronger than death.

Thanks be to God.

Closing Hymn and Dance: “Step in the Name”

Alright now, I told you all this was the one
You feel that? Ah ah ah / Gospel music at its finest
Old school, new school, here we go / One, two, three, four
See I’ve been through the fire a few times
Been up against the ropes a time or two
And even when I thought my life was over
I pushed on through the pain
Just let go (just let go) / And praise my way through it (praise my way through it)
Just let go (just let go) / And praise my way through it, through it, through it
Step in the name / Just step in the name / Just step in the name / In the name of Jesus
Step in the name / Just step in the name / Just step in the name / In the name of Jesus
Get ready (get ready) / Get ready (get ready) / Get ready to step into your miracle
Maybe you’re going through the fire right now
Maybe you feel like life is over
You know I’m gonna tell you like it is
You gotta put a praise on it
Just let go (just let go) / And praise your way through me (praise your way through me)
Just let go (just let go) / And praise my way through it, through it, through it
Just step in the name / Just step in the name / Just step in the name / In the name of Jesus
Step in the name / Just step in the name / Just step in the name / In the name of Jesus
Get ready (get ready) / Get ready (get ready)
Get ready (and step into your miracle) / Come on, we’re stepping into a miracle
Come on, you’re ready? / I need everybody now / Put your dancing shoes on / One, two
One, two, one, two, three, four / To the left, to the left / To the right, to the right
Now step, now step, now step / To the left, to the left / To the right, to the right
Now step, now step, now step / To the left, to the left / To the right, to the right
Now step, now step, now step To the left, to the left / To the right, to the right
Now step, now step, now step
Step into your miracle …
