Yoga is not just a sport to help you keep fit; it is a way of Life. It promotes better breathing, a strong and more flexible body as well as a more calm and relaxed mind.
The lessons given by instructor, Lynn Geertsen-Rowe, are a combination of different types of Hatha yoga. Props like blocks, straps and balls (even walls, chairs and tables) may be used to help assist in the differentiation of age, fitness and skill level. It is not just a yoga class but integrates different techniques from Pilates, Qigong, Holistic Dance, Energy Medicine, Touch For Health, Brain Gym and other various techniques to warm up the spine and allow the energy to flow more easily through the joints, muscles, organs and body. The class begins with meditation and breathing (pranayama) and flows into easy movements and stretches to activate and loosen the muscles and create more space in the body. This allows the breath to expand and spread more easily throughout the body. This class is suited for all ages and levels.
Yoga & More will take place on Wednesday, 13 April from 14:30-16:00 at the VCC Meeting Point. A minimum of 6 participants is required. Please wear comfortable clothing and bring something warm to cover yourself with during the final resting pose (Savasana). Please bring your own yoga mat as we do not have any at the Meeting Point. If you have a block, strap or ball you are welcome to bring them as well.
